Abstract: Advancement in information and communication technology (ICT) has given rise to explosion of data in every field of operations. Working with the enormous volume of data (or Big Data, as it is popularly known as) for extraction of useful information to support decision making is one of the sources of competitive advantage for organizations today. Supply Chain is a significant contributor to Big Data wherein the diversity of information is large. The data accumulated by Supply Chain contains information from the key entities such as manufacturing, logistics, and retail. The use of Big Data Analytics on a collection of such copious data sets can cultivate a proactive decision-making approach for predicting key opportunities and risks in Supply Chain. Big data used in supply chain management helps to create better customer demand planning strategies by collecting, documenting & analyzing data in a real situation. Big data combined a set of data usually referred as large and complex datasets; enables the company to review real-time data flows. Digitized supply chains have the potential to dramatically lower costs, reduce lead time and increase product availability. Digitization makes the supply chain more effective, agile and responsive by sharing knowledge and collaborating complex supplier networks. As a result, this research contributes the practitioners to identify the current situation of their business and it will help them to take timely, fast and better decision.

Biography: Prof. Dr. Md. Mamun Habib is a Professor at School of Business, Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB). In addition, Dr. Habib is the Visiting Scientist of University of Texas – Arlington, USA. Prior to that, he was Associate Professor at BRAC Business School, BRAC University, Bangladesh; Asia Graduate School of Business (AGSB) at UNITAR International University, Malaysia; Dept. of Operations Research/Decision Sciences, Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), Malaysia and Dept. of Operations Management, American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB).
He has more than 18 years’ experience in the field of teaching as well as in training, workshops, consultancy and research. At present, he is supervising some Ph.D. students at locally and internationally. As a researcher, Dr. Habib published about 140+ research papers, including Conference Proceedings, Journal articles, and book chapters/books. He serves as the Editor-in-Chief/Lead Guest Editor/Editor/Editorial Board Member/Reviewer of more than 20 journals, particularly Elsevier (Scopus) and Thomson Reuters (Web of Science) Indexed Journals. Also, he delivers lecture as Keynote Speaker at 50+ international conferences.
His core research areas are supply chain management, production & operations management, operations research, research methodology. Finally, Dr. Habib is an active member of different professional organizations, including IEEE (Senior Member), IEOM (President, SCM Technical Division), IETI (Senior Member and Board of Director), IRED (Fellow), GRDS (Vice-President), IEB, AIMS, INFOMS, just to name a few.
